PHSSA continues to follow all RPS health and safety guidance.
The consistent, layered use of health and safety mitigation strategies and other measures continues to remain the most important way to keep our community safe. We will continue:
In addition to the mitigation strategies listed above, important context about the community, including the stated CDC community level, vaccination coverage, and trends in school-related outbreaks or increasing cases will inform decision making and changes in guidance.
If you wish to opt your student out of wearing a mask inside, please email covidrps@rvaschools.net and provide your student's name and school.

- Masks are not required outdoors on RPS property for staff or students
- All social distancing and group size restrictions are eliminated, including during meals
- COVID-19 tests are available to all students and staff, as requested
- The isolation period for positive individuals is reduced from 10 to 5 days (mask wearing and distancing during lunch required on days 6-10)
- Co-isolation is no longer required for ongoing exposures (household exposures) if the close contact had COVID in the last 6 months (but is not up to date)
- Contact tracing is no longer performed on individual cases; tracing is only performed for outbreaks (3 or more linked cases)
- Quarantines from outbreaks are reduced from 10 days to 5 days (unless Test to Stay is used)

- Promoting vaccination and staying "up to date"
- Using masks consistently and correctly inside
- Testing
- Ensuring HVAC/air quality
- Handwashing/hand sanitizing
- Cleaning and maintaining healthy facilities
- Promoting daily symptom checking and staying home when sick and getting tested
- Contact tracing for outbreaks in combination with Test to Stay and quarantine
