FAMILY INVOLVEMENT REQUIREMENT
Involved, engaged families lead to successful students! One of the founding principles of PHSSA is meaningful parent, educator, and community involvement. As such, families are required to complete 24 hours of involvement per school year, as a condition of continued enrollment at PHSSA. There are numerous ways families can reach this requirement – numerous ways and places to be involved in the success of your student(s).
Families must complete and record 10 hours of involvement between June 13, 2019 and December 6, 2019 in order to secure enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year. Family involvement hours must be recorded by the family using Track It Forward. Unrecorded hours will not be counted. All hours must be entered within 30 days of the involvement or they will be rejected. (page 12 of 2019-2020 parent handbook). Important Notes: ● Signing into the school as a volunteer or guest does not track your family involvement hours. ● All Students should have only ONE Track It Forward Account ● Please direct any questions or concerns regarding your family involvement hours and/or Track it Forward account to (PTA Parent Involvement Committee Chair) at Phssaptavolunteer@gmail.com The remaining 14 hours must be completed and recorded by the last day of the 2019-2020 school year. The first year that a family does not successfully complete the requirement, the student will not be offered a new enrollment contract and will be expected to complete the application/lottery process in order to re-enroll for the following school year. Should the student secure a spot for the next school year through the lottery or wait list process, any unfulfilled hours from the 2019-2020 school year will be added to the 24 hours required for the 2020-2021 school year. The second year the requirement is not met the student will not be allowed to re-enroll at PHSSA. |
It is requested that parents/families not schedule classroom involvement/volunteering for the first two weeks of school unless specifically requested by a teacher (this will be the first three weeks of school for Kindergarten). This will allow the teachers to establish their rhythms and routines more effectively and consistently.
Once everything is flowing smoothly, parents/families will be welcomed openly. However, please note that any classroom involvement time must be coordinated in advance with the teacher, it is disruptive for the class when the teacher has to stop teaching to find a meaningful task. Thank you! "How to" for Track it Forward:
