PHSSA Friends and Families,

Throughout this exceptionally challenging year, PHSSA has adapted incredibly well! PHSSA’s attendance rate is one of the highest in RPS. Our teachers and administration have worked tirelessly to create out-of-the box learning opportunities for our students, ensuring that even during virtual learning, a PHSSA education remains unique and outstanding:
  • While we cannot be in the park together, teachers are getting creative - Mrs. Evans is blending letters and environmental science in her videos for our kindergarteners.
  • All of PHSSA connects as one community weekly during virtual Friday Morning Meetings.

We’ve used this time to give the building some TLC:
  • When we return to the building, learning will be lit by new LED lights.
  • Return to school evaluations are in process to make it as safe as possible when our students and teachers are back in the building.
  • We are consulting with architects, engineers and contractors to determine the most efficient and economical way to get our top floor opened.
In September, we launched a refreshed giving campaign - we were able to raise $7,361.82. This money will be used to support general operating costs for our school and historic building. PHSSA greatly appreciates and mindfully stewards every dollar received. Because of support from our PHSSA community, we are creating innovative ways to make the school better for all of our students, teachers, and parents.

We also know that support comes in many forms. One of our founding principles is having an engaged community; the positive impact of your time and talents on our students is immeasurable.To promote and streamline volunteer opportunities, we have created a page on our website that provides a singular place to find all volunteer opportunities.

On this Giving Tuesday, we’re kicking off our end-of-year giving campaign and renewing our ask for your support. Your support will help us with building projects, updating our curriculum, beautifying our space, and enhancing support for our students in need. You can donate
  1. Via Paypal;
  2. By check - mail to the attention of Monica Chambers at 3411 Semmes Avenue, Richmond, VA 23235;
  3. Or create your own fundraiser through your preferred social media outlet; our webpage has instructions to help you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Trevor Worden, a member of the Board of Directors' Advancement Committee, at trevor.worden@patrickhenrycharter.org.

Thank you for your continued support throughout this extraordinary year. 2020 has shown us the power of community and we stand with our students, teachers, families, friends and supporters to keep PHSSA growing beautifully.

We send you and yours the very best end of year wishes,
PHSSA Board of Directors
